Ryan Laird, our keynote motivational speaker and singer is a Two-Time Canadian Country Music Awards Nominated & Top 10 Hit Charting Recording Artist who's travelled all over Canada and the U.S.A to sing and speak about his own experiences of overcoming bullying throughout his youth and how he followed his dreams to succeed in one of the world's most difficult industries, despite any negativity or obstacles that came his way.
Ryan has always believed in his dreams. At the age of 18, he packed up his car and made his first trip to Nashville. Ryan fell in love with music city and 300 songs later, his creativity seemed endless.
That was back in December 2008, when he received recognition and media attention across the United States and Canada after putting up a billboard on Nashville's famed music row, asking Taylor Swift to produce his album. This caught Taylor's attention and as she said on national TV "I definitely want to meet him. He has great melodies and is a great songwriter!"
Their meeting soon led to a big Nashville publishing deal, songwriting sessions with many hit songwriters such as Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys, Dierks Bentley, Jimmy Rankin, and Jason McCoy. He has toured nationally with George Canyon, Alan Jackson, Terri Clark and Emerson Drive!
Growing up, Ryan spent his leisure time skiing in the winter and playing basketball, tennis and water skiing in the summer. In his spare time, he would practice writing his own songs, and sing them for family and friends.
During middle school, Ryan was often teased by his peers and bullied every day at school. The experience has stuck with him through the years and inspired him to share his story of overcoming any negativity that may be present in our lives. Ryan has shared his story with hundreds of schools across Canada, and the U.S. through his songs "Hey Ashley" and "Bigger Than That."
He created the campaign, “BiggerThanThat!” in 2013, and has since collaborated with other team members to create a bullying prevention and youth empowerment movement, with hopes of reaching as many children as possible through a nationwide tour.
“I’m hoping to motivate as many kids as I can to never stop chasing their dreams and never let negativity stand in their way of achieving what they want to do and who they want to be in their life! I was inspired to use my voice as an artist to provide message driven music concerts which empower youth to dream big and conquer negative influences. This is BiggerThanThat!” – Ryan Laird, Canadian Country Recording Artist
